The WSOP is living up to the World part of its name after announcing details of a new series of international Circuit events.
Tour organisers have confirmed that the WSOP will be holding events in Italy, Mexico and Morocco. Players don't have long to wait for the first action with the maiden event starting in the north African city of Marrakesh on 7 March. The nine-day festival will offer eight Circuit rings with the winners of the Main Event champion and the Casino Champion also qualifying for the 2016 WSOP International Casino Championship exclusive freeroll which will feature a prize pool of at least $1m as well as an all-important bracelet.Players in Marrakesh will also have opportunities to qualify for this year's WSOP in Las Vegas as well as the 2015 WSOPE.Precise dates haven't yet been confirmed for the first Italian WSOP Circuit event at the Casino Campione but organisers expect it to take place sometime in September. The format will be similar to Marrakesh with a series of Ring events as well as qualifiers into the WSOP proper. There will also be an event on Monterrey, Mexico sometime in early 2016.“It’s time to emphasize the “World” in World Series of Poker and more aggressively partner with leading casino operators at the regional level,” said WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart. “We know players crave a WSOP-like experience in their home market and believe our organizational expertise and unique tournament formats will bring a winning formula.”The latest additions will complement the American WSOP Circuit series which currently features 20 events throughout the year. Tour organisers also confirmed that expansion plans are continuing with discussions with nearly a dozen other casino groups around the world 'ongoing'.“One thing that was clear to me from my time spent in the poker industry is that the passion for poker is ever-present, but players crave value, excitement and superior organization,” said WSOP Director Gregory Chochon. “These new agreements will allow us to offer meaningful year-round benefits to our casino partners while giving poker players a more direct path to reach the ultimate WSOP dream.”
