WPT Venice Day 1a complete: Andrea Dato leads the way

WPT Venice Day 1a complete: Andrea Dato leads the way

Wednesday, 14 December 2011

After a record-breaking field at WPT Prague, the 78-player turnout for WPT Venice was disappointing. Perhaps the east of Europe has been bankrupted by the large field at the Prague re-entry event.

Because this is a re-entry, we expect to see some Day 1a bustouts – of which there were 49 – return with another €3,300 today. John Eames, Marvin Rettenmaier and Sam El Sayed are some likely candidates for this.

One man who can keep the extra three grand in his pocket is Andrea Dato, who built up his 30,000 starting stack sevenfold and ended Day 1a with 217,300 chips. With $300k in cashes under his belt including a WSOP final table, he’s no stranger to accumulating chips. He will be joined by 28 other players who survived the opening flight.
