WPT Set for Montesino Return

WPT Set for Montesino Return

Thursday, 26 February 2015

The World Poker Tour will head to Austria next week for its latest visit to the Montesino Poker Club. Always one of the more popular events on the yearly schedule, the latest WPT festival will run between March 4 and March 17 and feature a slew of events priced from a measly €340 up to €6,000.

As usual the tournament festivities will be flanked by a selection of cash games, but for those looking to maximise their EV and drive down their costs, the €340 Warm-Up is the event everyone is waiting for.

Getting underway on March 5, players will start with 20,000 chips and may re-enter once per day in search of a stack worthy enough making it through to Day 2. Awaiting those who can navigate the preliminary rounds and make it into the money is a €200,000 guarantee which promises to transform the winner's €340 investment into something markedly larger.

Once the betting has come to a conclusion in the Warm-Up players can choose a selection of similarly priced side events or simply ante-up in the €3,300 Main Event. Two starting flights will be offered on March 12 and March 13 and players are permitted one re-entry per day.

Last time the WPT held a Main Event in Austria was 2012 and that year 396 players sat down for a shot at glory. When the betting was over, however, it was Morten Christensen who walked away with the €313,390 top prize and his first WPT title.

This year the organisers expect around 400 players to ante-up thanks to a packed roster of side events, which will include a €6,000 High Roller, adding some extra value to proceedings.
