As many predicted Day 1C at WPT Prague was the busiest of them all with the two previous day’s worth of casualties all taking their last shot at the title. Indeed, when the final total of players had been counted an impressive 273 were lining the tables of the Kings Casino.

Yesterday’s haul dragged the overall total to 567 players, which means the prizepool should be well in excess of €1 million.

A host of world-class talent were doing their best to wade through the masses during Day 1C but by the time the clock stopped for the day it was Yannick Bonnet who sat atop of the chip counts.

The French grinder, who recently finished second in a WSOPE event, bagged 197,200 chips to finish ahead of Kevin MacPhee (190,200), Mike McDonald (160,000) and Pierre Christensen (153,000).

Day 2 will start today with 287 players in the race for the title.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the Atlantic, the WPT’s Five Diamond World Classic also attracted a bumper field with some of the poker world’s top players anteing up inside the Bellagio, Las Vegas.

The final number of entrants settled on 503 and when the third session kicks off later today a total of 176 players will return to the felt.

Leading the way is Michael Mizrachi with 272,600 chips, but also still in contention is the likes of Vanessa Selbst (202,000), Dan Smith (184,300), Jason Somerville (180,800) and Phil Galfond (179,300).
