WPT National Starts with Charity Event

Friday, 10 July 2015

The World Poker Tour heads to London later this month for the partypoker WPT National UK event at Aspers Casino.

Festival organisers have confirmed that the curtain-raiser to the £100,000 guaranteed tournament will be a special charity event on Wednesday 29 July.

The DT38 Charity Tournament will raise funds for the DT38 foundation which was created in memory of professional footballer Dylan Tombides, who passed away after a three-year battle with testicular cancer.

A hosts of pros, celebs and the poker playing public are expected to take part in the £100 buy-in tournament which will see 38% of the prize pool donated to the foundation.

“Having the DT38 Tournament take place during the WPT festival at Aspers Casino Stratford offers us the opportunity to increase awareness about men’s health, in particular our young men, and the need for self-awareness and early detection”, commented Tracy Tombides, Dylan’s Mother and founder of DT38. “The evening also provides an opportunity for people to play poker, mix with footballers, and grab some great prizes whilst also fundraising to provide support, awareness and education.”

The partypoker WPT National UK follows from 8pm on 30 July. The £600 buy-in Main Event is split into three £200 flights with players able accumulate their chips from all three flights to create one big stack on day 2.

One player looking forward to it is Tony Dunst. The American pro will be calling “shuffle up and deal” before taking part himself.

“I played the event at Aspers Casino for the first time in February, and I loved it so much that I wanted to make sure I was here again for the last leg of 2015!” said Dunst.

If you fancy joining him as Aspers, qualifiers are up and running now at partypoker.
