WPT National Paris final table set; Sam Trickett the short stack

WPT National Paris final table set; Sam Trickett the short stack

Monday, 14 February 2011

Many would consider two major final tables, a win and runner-up no less, totalling $1.9m USD, within the first month of the year as a job well done. Perhaps you would kick back and enjoy the remainder of 2011 knowing that the rent is well and truly paid. Not if you’re Sam Trickett.

Last month’s Bluff Europe cover star is still enjoying the good karma that comes with appearing in our glossy pages and has secured a seat at the final table of the World Poker Tour Paris event today where eight players will be fighting for a first prize of €243,830. Unfortunately, UK star Trickett is seventh in chips after doubling up three opponents throughout Day 4.

Trickett began Day 4, which lasted only ninety minutes as we played from ten down to eight, second in chips with 849,000. He lost out on a coinflip for 121,000 before making an ambitious call with bottom pair and being shown the better hand for a 500,000 pot. Next he ran A-8 into A-Q and returns with just 191,000 of that stack remaining. With over a million quid in the bank for 2011, though, he can’t be complaining about running bad.

The dominating chip leader is Benjamin Pollack, the only player with over a million in chips. Blinds are 6,000/12,000 as the final table starts; the chip counts are as follows:

1.Benjamin Pollak 1,251,000
2.Ingo Paulus 832,000
3.Tobias Wagner 748,000
4.Natalia Nikitina 688,000
5.Jean-Louis Tepper 470,000
6.Alexandre Brivot 203,000
7.Sam Trickett 191,000
8.Nicolo Calia 176,000
