Almost two thirds of the field was lost at Day 1a of the World Poker Tour Bay 101 Shooting Stars $10,000 event. The field was spiced up nicely with the $5,000 bounties on pros, meaning there was $100,000 extra to be won in the opening flight.

TJ Cloutier, Gus Hansen, Jennifer Harman, Jason Mercier, Bertrand Grospellier and Tom Dwan all made someone $5,000 richer as they were eliminated from the tournament.


Vanna Tea got her hands on the overnight chip lead and therefore a reward of $10,000 – not a bad investment; you’re well-poised to make a good run at the tournament and your buy-in has been refunded.


Day 1b of the tournament begins today and it is expected that the total field size will top 400, taking the prize pool to $4,000,000.
