With the WPT Foxwoods event drawing to a close in the US, attention on the World Poker Tour turns to this side of the Atlantic as WPT Amneville starts today.
The first of two opening day flights for the €3,500 Main Event gets under way this lunchtime with plenty of top names including Jake Cody, Tony G and ElkY expected to head to the north-eastern corner of France. Sam Al Sayed won last year's WPT Amneville, outlasting a record-breaking field of 542 runners to pocket a first prize of €426,425. “Last year’s event put Amnéville on the global poker map as word of the big field spread throughout the poker community,” said Christophe Schanne, Director of Seven Casino which is hosting this year's event. “For 2011 we’re providing some exciting improvements, including focusing more on the social aspect of our upcoming event. For instance, there will be a lounge bar open from 10pm until late every night with a DJ, and all players will receive a voucher for a free drink courtesy of the casino. We also aim to structure the event so that players can enjoy all our casino has to offer.”Railbirds will be able to follow the final table action on Saturday 6th November courtesy of a live stream at worldpokertour.com with Jesse May doing the honours in the commentary box.Keep up to date with all the news from the poker world by following us on Twitter and Facebook.
