WIPHOF Nominations Begin

WIPHOF Nominations Begin

Wednesday, 20 January 2016

The non-profit Women In Poker Hall of Fame (WIPHOF) organisation has begun accepting nominations for the sport’s top female players.

Unlike the World Series Of Poker (WSOP) Hall Of Fame, the WIPHOF is open only to female poker players or industry members that have made a significant contribution to the game.

Moreover, in contrast to the nomination process in the WSOP Hall Of Fame, the organisers of the WIPHOF ask that fans give their reasons as to why a particular person should be added to their list.

To be considered for a place among the top women in poker, all WIPHOF nominees must be at least 35-years-old and have been active in the industry for a minimum of ten years. They must have also contributed to the sport in a significant way such as by winning a major tournament, consistently competing in the biggest cash games or making major contributions to the industry. Finally, all nominees must be a supporter of women in poker and the WIPHOF and agree to the organisation’s terms and conditions.

The WIPHOF has inducted 17 women including the likes of Kathy Liebert, Cyndi Violette and Jennifer Harman since holding its first ceremony in 2008. This year’s ceremony, which is scheduled to take place on July 5 at a location not yet confirmed, will see two more females added to that list.
