Viktor Blom wins PCA Super High Roller for $1.25m

Monday, 9 January 2012

Viktor “Isildur1” Blom has taken his name off the “online players without live tournament titles” list with a bang, winning arguably the toughest tournament of the calendar year by defeating the $100,000 Super High Roller field at the PCA.

Blom outlasted a final table that included fellow Team PokerStars Pros Daniel Negreanu, Jonathan Duhamel and Humberto Brenes as well as Scott Seiver, Mike “Timex” McDonald and 2011 PCA champion Galen Hall.

With five players paid, the final table still had to fight to the money and it was Seiver, McDonald and Brenes who missed out on the quarter-million mincash. Negreanu exited in fifth, followed by fellow Canadian Red Spade Duhamel.

Three-handed became a match of Blom versus Hall, with Isildur1 whittling down the stack of the 2011 PCA champion as Dan Shak treaded water.

Eventually the Swede picked up aces to eliminate Hall and turned his focus on Shak, grinding down his stack in very much a one-way heads-up match.
The full payouts were as follows:

1. Viktor “Isildur1” Blom - $1,254,000
2. Dan Shak - $846,700
3. Galen Hall - $470,400
4. Jonathan Duhamel - $313,600
5. Daniel Negreanu - $250,900
