Vanessa Rousso leads WPT Five Diamond

Vanessa Rousso leads WPT Five Diamond

Wednesday, 8 December 2010

When you think of the World Poker Tour Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic $10,000 Main Event you think of two things – stacked final tables and ‘wow, that tournament has a really long name’. The 2010 edition didn’t disappoint with PokerStars Pro Vanessa Rousso enjoying a late run of cards to finish with almost a third of the chips in play.

Victory Poker Pro Antonio Esfandiari held the chip lead for most of Day 2 and Day 3 before yesterday losing a big pot to Rousso with 13 left. He fought back well from his shorter stack and arrives at the final table with over two million chips. He is joined by fellow Victory pro Andrew Robl , who is third in chips but not by much.

Also at the final table is November Niner and eventual third place finisher for the 2010 Main Event John Racener – that $3m bankroll boost has been working its magic and he’s only five players away from securing a major title. Also featured are Ted Lawson, whose most recent win was in the very same casino at the 2009 Festa al Lago in a $10,000 PLO event; he is joined by Kirk Morrison , runner-up in the $25,000 WPT Championship three years ago.

The final table plays out tonight so join us tomorrow to find out if Esfandiari or Robl can score a Victory; if Rousso can keep defying her critics with a major title; if Racener can make up for his third place finish with a victory.
