She played a near faultless game from the start but when the finale loomed Vanessa Rousso was unable to make her influence count on the US version of the Big Brother television programme.
The game theory expert and poker pro initially played down the skills she'd acquired during her career but as the $500,000 prize moved closer she gradually began to up the ante.At one point it looked as though the New York-born Rousso may walk out of the house as the winner but the 32-year-old's run came to an end earlier this week with a third-place finish. Despite her best efforts, the US pro essentially bubbled the tournament as the final two players won between $50,000 and $500,000.During her eviction interview a disappointed Rousso revealed that she had suspicions that she wouldn't win but had persevered nonetheless."It wasn't out of the realm of possibility [but] I never fully trusted Steve [Moses] in the game," said Rousso."When he said we were cool for the final two, I didn't really trust it. I tried my best in this game; I gave it everything I had."After watching her fellow pro miss out on another pay-day, fellow poker professional Vanessa Selbst took to Twitter to offer some support."Wow so brutal, gg @VanessaRousso. Such a beautifully played game. #BB17. Way to represent for queer poker-playing Vanessas across the world," Tweeted Selbst.
