Updates on World Poker Tour London Classic

Friday, 13 August 2010

We all know that the World Poker Tour’s first ever stop in London will be taking place at The Palm Beach Casino, Mayfair, from August 30 until September 4. It will be a £5,300 buy-in event and bring out some of poker’s superstars.

What we didn’t know until recently is just how many superstars - Phil Ivey, Tony G, Dave ‘Devilfish’ Ulliot, Alexander Kravchenko, Annette Obrestad, Sorel Mizzi, Barry Shulman and James Akenhead are all confirmed for the event.

Furthermore, the tournament is in very good hands with Jack McCellend, Tournament Director of the Bellagio, guiding proceedings along with Bellagio Operations Director Doug Dalton taking care of the cash games on the side.

Genting Casinos London Poker Manager Simon Tomsett said: “There’s a real buzz about the World Poker Tour London Poker Classic and it fits that we have chosen to partner with two of the best in the business to oversee the action. Jack and Doug bring experience and stature to the event and cash games. We may not have the water features of Bellagio but we’re expecting top tournament action at The Palm Beach Casino and some Bobby’s Room magic at Crockfords.

"The WPT London Poker Classic kicks-off the biggest poker month in British history where across all the major events and games we’re estimating that £100 million will be wagered through the poker tables in the capital.”
