A private poker game in American turned into tragedy when two players were shot, one fatally, by a pair of armed intruders.

Over a dozen players were taking part in the weekly invitation-only game at an office in Stafford, Texas on Thursday evening when two armed men entered the room and demanded cash. Local sources estimate that there was around $7,000 on the table at the time.

According to Houston website KHOU.com, at least two shots were fired during the robbery, one of them killing local businessman Don Leonetti. 56-year-old Charles Olsen had a lucky escape, receiving just a graze on the neck.

Police are yet to make any arrests.
