UKIPT London Field Tops 1,000.

As expected, a big field was on hand for the second opening flight of the £770 PokerStars UKIPT London Main Event. Even the organisers must have been a little surprised at just how big though, as 776 players headed to the Connaught Rooms on Thursday.

After 10 levels of hard-fought action, it was Eric Theissen (293,200) who had nurtured the biggest stack, followed by Hamid Toghyan (279,000) and Japan's Daichi Tominaga (212,400).

Poker celeb spotters weren't disappointed as a host of notable names took their seats on Day 1B. Enjoying the best of it was Robert Romanello who closed the day with a very workable 138,800. After reaching the final table in the Isle of Man earlier this week, Ludovic Geilich is set for another deep run. The former UKIPT Marbella winner will return with 106,700, just behind prolific UK pro Chris Brammer (107,000).

Other notables still hoping for UKIPT glory this weekend include American Shannon Shorr (87,800), Full Tilt ambassador Martins Adeniya (86,900), Bertrand 'ElkY' Grospellier (73,900) and double UKIPT winner Joeri Zandvliet (25,400).

Chris Moorman topped the list of high profile exits. Joining the online winning machine on the rail were recent WPT Alpha 8 bubble boy Sorel Mizzi, Mad Marvin Rettenmaier and David Vamplew.

With the numbers crunched the total field ended up at 1,089 with the prize fund an impressive £762,300. The top 159 finishers will grab a share of it with the eventual winner set to pocket £133,500.
