Organisers said they were expecting a big crowd for the first live flight of the Genting Poker Series event in Nottingham and so it proved with 256 players taking to the felt at Dusk Till Dawn yesterday.

Leading the way after 10 levels of hard fought action was Tony Housden who had turned his starting stack of 25,000 into 326,600 by the close of play. Hot on Housden's heels was former GUKPT Blackpool winner Simon Deadman who was the only other player to crack the 300,000 chip barrier.

A total of 60 players survived the day including Full Tilt Ambassador Sin Melin (114,000), Sky Poker pundit Carlo Citrone (85,000) and our own Ben Jackson (59,400). (Check out Ben's latest strategy column here).

Joining them for Saturday's Day 2 will be 42 players who battled their way through an opening online flight earlier in the week. Sam Grafton (242,649) ended the day in pole position with EPT Barcelona winner Tom Middleton (153,422) and JP Kelly (46,274) also still in with a shot of a big new year score.

A busy day is in store for the staff at Dusk Till Dawn for today's third opening flight with around 600 players set to take to the tables.

The chip leaders after days 1a and 1b are as follows:

Tony Housden 326600
Simon Deadman 301200
Alan Lambert 244300
Sam Grafton 242,649
Umar Khan 241800
Kevin Whelan 225700
John Conroy 195,810
Cosimo Dellisola 197500
Neil Strike 179,449
Madlena Rezk 173500

The Day 1C action starts at 1pm today. Railbirds will be able to follow all the action from DTD via Genting's Live Stream.
