The Western Club’s Wednesday success

The Western Club’s Wednesday success

Friday, 25 January 2013

The return of guaranteed prize pool tournaments at The Western Club in London has been hailed a success after 111 players participated in its Beat The Bowen Terminator Tournament on Wednesday evening.

The £33 buy-in Beat The Terminator Bowen Tournament featured a £3,000 guarantee and a very special participant in birthday boy Adam 'Terminator' Bowen, Tournament Director for The Western Club.

Unable to make any positive action and forced to call all pre-flop raises, Bowen was among the early target for many players.

However, once Bowen was allowed to play as normal he simply had to worry about the bounty on his head and survive an onslaught of the masses.

Unfortunately, Bowen couldn’t find a slice of luck and by the time a final table was reached he was busy watching from the rails.

With nine players still in contention, the final action went on into the night but when the final flurry of chips had settled it was Jason Vencat who emerged victorious.

Having seen off some stiff competition from The Western Club regular Nim, Jason banked a healthy £891.

Overall, the return of guaranteed tournaments proved popular with players and additional events are being planned for the future.

Beat The Bowen Terminar Tournament final results:

First: Jason Vencat - £891
Second: Nim - £891
Third: Tibor - £400
Fourth: Roy Darbar - £266
Fifth: Wing Yueng - £233
Sixth: Danon - £200
Seventh: Sai S - £166
Eighth: Ian Hobbs - £133
Ninth: Jason Tennant - £100
