Based in Amsterdam, the Master Classics of Poker (MCOP) is one of the biggest events on the European poker circuit – and it’s back in full force for 2013.
This year’s event was scheduled to start a week later than normal as a mark of respect to Dutch November Niner Michiel Brummelhuis, explained by a statement released on MCOP’s official website. “This year the Master Classics of Poker starts a week later. Michiel Brummelhuis is the first Dutch player to ever make the November Nine, the WSOP Main Event final table. This (un)official World Championship poker takes place on 4 and 5 November in Las Vegas. Because we take into account that Dutch poker players will be travelling to support Michiel and of course because we love to see him on the MCOP, Holland Casino has decided to postpone the event.”The 32-year-old pro ended up finishing in 7th place for an incredible $1,225,356, doing his country proud in the process. The debut of Dutch success will inevitably be celebrated for some time to come, but for now action can finally get started again in the form of the MCOP.The 8-day event runs from the 9th to the 16th of November, and is chock full of great events. The €4,000 Main Event is sure to attract a juicy prizepool, with buy-ins ranging from an affordable €200 all the way up to the more pricey €10,000 of the High Roller. As well as this, there is even a PLO event on the schedule, so there’s truly something for everyone to get involved in.
