Ted Forrest Denies Phil Hellmuth his 14th WSOP Title

Monday, 2 June 2014

While the masses were fighting for success in this year's Millionaire Maker on Sunday, some of the game's elite were trying to secure in one of poker's lesser loved disciples: Seven-Card Razz.

The $1,500 event initially welcomed 352 players over the weekend but by the time the $121,196 top prize was in sight there was only one name that mattered: Phil Hellmuth.

After another successful WSOP run the Poker Brat found himself within reach of his 14 bracelet and as the likes of Brandon Cantu, Brock Parker and David Bach drifted away it looked like his dream may come true.

However, after Greg Pappas exited in third place it was Ted Forrest who stated to take control of the finale and dominate Hellmuth heads-up.

Forrest's performance, combined with the weight of expectation bearing down on Hellmuth, eventually conspired to snatch another poker accolade from the record bracelet holder's grasp.

As the crowd applauded Hellmuth's latest efforts a jubilant Forrest was able to celebrate his latest WSOP title as well as a $121,196 bankroll boost.

Event # $1,500 Seven-Card Razz Result:
1. Ted Forrest - $121,196
2. Phil Hellmuth - $74,848
3. Greg Pappas - $48,275
4. David Bach - $34,979
5. Brock Parker - $25,717
