Super Erik Seidel Does it Again

Wednesday, 6 May 2015

Is there a better high stakes tournament player in the world than Erik Seidel? It's hard to argue against New York's finest who secured another massive payday over the weekend after taking down the €100,000 Super High Roller at the EPT Grand Final.

The start list in Monte Carlo read like a who's who of poker but none could match Seidel who boosted his bankroll by €2,015,000 after topping the 71-entry field.

The 55-year-old navigated his way through a high-class final table that featured Scott Seiver, Fedor Holz, Igor Kurganov and Max Altergott before seeing off the challenge of Dzmitry Urbanovich.

Just 19 he may be but Urbanovich is one of poker's rising stars and the Pole went toe to toe with his more experienced opponent. It took Seidel 94 hands to claim victory, eventually sealing the deal when his pocket tens prevailed against the youngster's K9.

Seidel's latest triumph takes his career tournament earnings to an eye-popping $24,065,941 which puts him third on the all-time money list.
