The annual WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star event may be a few months away but that hasn't stopped Matt Savage from publishing this year's bounty players.
After suggestions from the poker community and weeks of negotiations with the players involved, Matt has finally rounded up 50 willing grinders for the $7,500 Main Event. As usual each Shooting Star will have a $5,000 bounty pinned to their back and when the action gets under way on March 10 it's expected that a bumper filed will descend on the San Jose casino. In typically varied style the list contains the great and the good from the poker world, including TV pros (such as Mike Sexton), world-class grinders (e.g. Vanessa Selbst) and celebrity players such as Bruce Buffer (UFC announcer) and Jennifer Tilly. Thanks to a continued success on the live circuit, Europe, and Germany in particular, is well represented with the likes of Marvin Rettenmaier, Dominik Nitsche, Chris Moorman and Ludovic Lacay all joining the North American cast.As usual the selections have caused some debate, but its creator, Matt Savage, says he has worked hard to include many of the players suggestions put forward by the community. Indeed, in the defence of some notable absences from the list, Matt was keen point to point out that "a few 'stars' did not respond" and are therefore not eligible for inclusion. To check out the full list, click here.
