After a brisk opening session of this year’s Aussie Millions Main Event, a further 196 players made their way to the felt for the second starting day yesterday.
As is often the case, the rise of superstars such as Jason Mercier, Annette Obrestad and Neil Channing was tempered with the eliminations of equally talented players such as Vanessa Selbst and Niklas Heinecker.Indeed, while Mercier managed to build enough of a stack (90,000) to finish the day in 8th place, it was the lesser known players who made the biggest impact throughout the session.Francis Rusnak and Mark Betts both topped the leaderboard with 155,000 chips, while >Matthew Ginn Despite their efforts the trio are still some way behind Day 1A chip leader Brian Payne who finished his day with a stack of 299,000. At the time of writing the third and final starting day was underway and so far 269 players have bought in. Setting an early pace during the Day 1C has been Gus Hansen (30,000), Antonio Esfandiari (77,000) and Jake Balsiger (91,000). Registration for Day 1C will stay open until the start of Day 2 when the final number of entrants will be set and the prizepool confirmed.
