Sorel Mizzi Leads Final 11 in $5k PLO, Event #35

With only 11 players left in the $5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha event at the 2009 WSOP, three of them are major tournament pros. Cliff “JohnnyBax” Josephy held the chip lead for much of the day before Betfair’s Sorel Mizzi took the top spot.

Josephy is looking strong to take it down at third place in chips. The online tournament pro held the top spot on major online tournament site PocketFives’ league for over a year.


Sorel Mizzi has over $700,000 in online tournament winnings under the name Imper1um including two wins in Full Tilt Poker’s FTOPS series. Holding the chip lead at the moment, he is a favourite to take down this event.


However, anything can happen. Isaac Baron proved that after moving from chip leader to short stack following a failed bluff against Josephy. Don’t count him out though – he won over $1m in online tournaments throughout 2007.
