Sonny Pomroy takes Black Belt Poker's East End Live

Monday, 23 April 2012

Neil Channing and his merry band of Black Belt Poker men (and the odd woman) took to Aspers Casino in Stratford, east London over the weekend for the latest Black Belt Live event. The East End special attracted a field of 391-runners with a number of big name bounties on offer.

In the end it was Sonny Pomroy who had most to cheer. The 20-year-old outlasted a final table that included Richard 'Chufty' Ashby to walk away with $13,300, a fine return on a $220 investment.

Pomroy, who has been an online pro for three years told Black Belt Poker's Adam 'Snoopy' Goulding, “I feel really good, obviously, but shattered too. I'm used to playing 15 tables online, but I didn't get bored. I was in the zone and didn't remove my headphones the whole time.”

The final table positions and payouts were as follows:

1st  Sonny Pomroy -- $13,300
2nd  Elliot Aspden -- $9,400
3rd  Dhaval Rajani -- $6,300
4th  Paul Hempseed -- $4,500
5th  Richard Ashby -- $4,080 ($3,400)
6th  Jon White -- $2,860 ($2,600)
7th  Andrew Lidgey -- $1,950
8th  Sam Lawsey -- $1,650
9th  Richard Lindsey -- $1,400
