Simon Deadman wins Hollywood Poker Open

Simon Deadman has been one of the hottest performers on the UK tournament scene in 2014 and he's taken that form across the Atlantic to scoop the biggest win of his career.

The Briton topped a 692-runner field to win the Championship Event of the 2014 Hollywood Open and with it a first prize of $351,097.

2014 has been a year of frustration for Deadman. A look at his Hendon Mob stats reveals no-fewer than SIX runner-up finishes on the European circuit this year including second places in the Genting Poker Series, GUKPT and the EPT.

The man from Nottingham made no mistake this time though, working his way through a final table that included Mike Sowers, Martin Godsk and Kitty Kuo before defeating Michael Wang heads up.

The Englishman enjoyed some well-deserved luck on the winning hand as the K-10-7-K-7 board counterfeited Wang's pocket fives and left his A-3 in front.

The final table positions and payouts were as follows:

1 Simon Deadman $351,097
2 Michael Wang $216,904
3 Kitty Kuo $141,158
4 Martin Godsk $98,777
5 Elliott Zaydman $71,781
6 Robbie Bakker $55,708
7 Bradley Yazici $46,814
8 Damian Salas $39,012
9 Mike Sowers $31,209
