Seidel Amongst WSOP Main Event Leaders

Monday, 7 July 2014

Approximately 1,300 of the 2,144 second flight starters still have dreams of fame, glory and oodles of cash after a busy day 1b at the WSOP Main Event.

After five levels of action it was the unknown Trey Luxemburger out in front (193,450) followed by Sarkis Hakobian (190,125) and Ryan Buckholtz (189,000).

Plenty of familiar faces made solid starts to their 2014 challenge including Erik Seidel (134,025), Matt Affleck (122,150) and Marvin Rettenmaier (115,000) who all finished in the upper echelons of the chip counts.

Further back, but still in the hunt, were the likes of Vanessa Selbst, Kevin Vandersmissen, Mike McDonald, Allen Cunningham and former Main Event winners Dan Harrington and Huck Seed.

Chris Moorman will have to wait another year for a maiden WSOP bracelet after busting on the second flight. Joining him on the rail were ElkY, Ireland's Andy Black and Dealer's Choice winner Robert Mizrachi.

The third and final opening flights gets under way at noon local time (8pm UK time) with organisers hopeful that numbers will exceed the 3,467 that sat down on day 1C last year.
