Second Dusk Till Dawn Grand Prix begins today with 810 players

Friday, 21 January 2011

The last time that Nottingham’s – and indeed the UK’s – premier cardroom ran a Grand Prix event it attracted a then-record field of 900 players, shortly beaten by the EPT London soon after. This time they are settling for a more modest 810 runners, though these seats are all sold out.

The €115 tournament guarantees an €80,000 prize pool with an estimated first prize of €20,000 – an ROI of around 19,800%. The 810-strong field is already the third largest ever tournament hosted on UK soil behind the previous Grand Prix and last year’s EPT London Main Event.

Day 1a begins today followed by Day 1b tomorrow, as you may expect. This will whittle the two sets of 405 players down to a more manageable number to get them under one roof and play down to a winner on Sunday. The tournament gives you 10,000 chips and a 40-minute clock.

“We were of course tempted to beat our 900-player record,” said Poker Director at Dusk Till Dawn Simon Trumper. “But we think it’s wise to see how this one goes first!”
