Sean Cunix wins WPT Jacksonville for $400,600

Thursday, 3 May 2012

Sean Cunix played out the final table of the World Poker Tour Jacksonville Bestbet Open last night with a broken collarbone, having saved his son’s life from an automobile collision recently. This being American broadcasting, it guaranteed him a win.

Despite the final containing names such as Darren Elias, Will Failla – who retook the WPT Player of the Year lead from Tommy Vedes with his showing – and Tony Dunst, Cunix overcame the odds to get heads-up with James Calderaro.

The final hand saw Cunix win the flip with pocket threes versus JTs, going from a remarkable brush with death to a $400,600 World Poker Tour victory in less than a month.

1st: Shawn Cunix - $400,600 (includes $25,500 WPT World Championship seat)
2nd: James Calderaro - $236,560
3rd: Darren Elias - $147,850
4th: Daniel Buzgon - $94,624
5th: Tony Dunst - $66,532
6th: Will Failla - $54,704
