Sam Trickett Still Alive in WPT Merit Classic

Sam Trickett Still Alive in WPT Merit Classic

Monday, 8 September 2014

After two opening days at this year's partypoker WPT Merit North Cyprus Classic Main Event has seen 404 players take to the felt. Easily surpassing last year's 262 entrants, the early action saw the likes of Sam Trickett, Toby Lewis and Nicolas Chouity all enjoying some sun, sea and 3-betting.

At the close of Day 1b the man leading the way was Albert Daher with 219,200 chips. Enough to lead Dmitry Samoylenko (182,700) and the aforementioned Trickett (140,000), Daher found himself heading to the rail in the first level of the day.

Fortunately, as four re-entries allowed, Daher paid another $4,000+$400 to rejoin the action and started enjoying a massage. Fast-forward a few hours and by the close of play the Lebanese high roller was able to top the chip chart heading into Day 2.

However, after another round of action, Daher wasn't able to maintain his dominant position and, despite making it through Day 2, it was Antonio Buonanno who topped the latest leaderboard.

With just 79 players left, play will continue today as a number of Brits, including Daniel Lamina, Oliver Price and Louis Salter, move another step closer to bagging the $310,000 top prize.
