British professional poker player Sam Trickett has signed a deal that will see him become the new face for emerging Indian online poker site StarPoker.in.
Despite being from the heart of England, Trickett's success on the world stage in events such as the Big One For One Drop at the World Series Of Poker (WSOP) has increased his international status. As it stands, East Retford-born Trickett is one of the sport’s biggest tournament winners with more than $20 million in career earnings. The 29-year-old is also one of the world’s top cash game players and regularly sits down alongside the likes of Americans Phil Ivey and Tom Dwan in competitions where millions of dollars change hands.Trickett has represented a number of online poker rooms in the past including the likes of Titan Poker and Everest Poker but his deal with StarPoker.in marks the first time he will serve as the face for a brand that focuses primarily on the Indian market.“I'm happy to confirm that I am the new poker brand ambassador for the top Indian online poker room StarPoker.in for India,” said Trickett.“I am excited to represent the Indian poker industry's authentic poker brand and look forward to promoting poker in India alongside the StarPoker.in team and to interacting with our players online as well.”India has been one of the world’s emerging poker markets for a number of years but this is the first time a top ranked pro has agreed to represent a local real-money site, which is something that could well accelerate the growth of the sport throughout Asia.
