The Spring Championship Of Online Poker (SCOOP) tournament series at PokerStars starts this Sunday with a whopping $30 million in guaranteed prize money up for grabs over 30 events.
The action takes place from May 6 to 20 and will offer players a trio of buy-in levels in ‘low’, ‘medium’ and ‘high’ for each event in order to make them more affordable for players of all bankrolls. The series culminates with a no-limit hold’em main event featuring a ‘low’ buy-in of $109 that offers one million dollars in prize money. The ‘medium’ buy-in event starts at $1,050 with a $1.5 million pool while high-rollers can compete for their share of $2.5 million by laying down $10,300.Team PokerStars Online member Anders ‘Donald’ Berg topped the SCOOP Player Of The Series leaderboard last time out after taking down a HORSE event, cashing 23 times and final-tabling four events and stated that he is very excited about the prospect of defending his title.“SCOOP is always one of the highlights of the online poker calendar and I’ll be aiming to defend my Player of the Series title by playing as many events as possible,” said Berg.“The tournament structures are excellent and the range of games is unrivalled. It’s going to be an epic tournament series for me and many other players in May.”Players at this year’s SCCOOP will be able to buy into 27 events using ‘steps’ tickets in order to make it easier to satellite into more tournaments.A trophy and a package into the 2013 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure are up for grabs in separate Player of the Series leaderboards for its ‘low’, ‘medium’ and ‘high’ stakes players. There is also set to be an overall leaderboard winner who will bag a trophy plus entry to the European Poker Tour’s Grand Final.“In total more than $100,000 in tournament and ticket prizes will be awarded to leaderboard players in the 2012 SCOOP tournament series,” read the statement from PokerStars.Play in this year's SCOOP with a first deposit bonus of up to £400.
