SCOOP 2014 Coming to a Close

Monday, 19 May 2014

The PokerStars SCOOP festival closed for registration yesterday and despite some events yet to come to a conclusion (the main events will finish today), the online series has become the richest in history.

Over the course of two weeks and more than 100 tournaments, SCOOP 2014 collected and distributed an impressive $81,222,158. That prizepool was enough to make it the most lucrative ever and amongst the players picking up wads of cash this year was the likes of George Danzer, Jason Mercier and Dan Cates.

Aside from the big name winners this series, four grinders have proved their mettle by topping the various Player of the Series leagues. Leading the low leaderboard and picking up a customised trophy and 2015 PCA package was Paraguay's 'pantri'.

Collecting similar prizes for topping the medium and high leaderboards was the UK's Phil 'Jackal69' Shaw and Paul 'paulgees81' Volpe.

However, the most consistent player of the entire series title went to Calvin 'cal42688' Anderson. The American grinder, who is now based in Mexico, played 121 tournaments and bagged 635 points to score a SCOOP trophy, plus a prize package to next year's EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo.

With SCOOP 2014 now in the can, many of the world's top tournament grinders will be looking forward to the WSOP which gets underway next week.
