Roux's PKR Triumph

Roux's PKR Triumph

Tuesday, 12 November 2013

Jonathan Roux has been crowned the winner of the latest PKR's London Live event. Like his fine dining namesakes, the London-based Swiss, served up a tasty treat at the $500 buy-in event at Aspers over the weekend.

Roux pocketed a first prize of $19,895 after working his way through a 204 runner field and a high class final table that included Nicky van der Weyer and George Achillea. The 27-year-old is more usually found at the PLO tables but showed he's no slouch at hold'em either, securing his biggest live score to date.

After van de Weyer hit the rail in fourth the final trio of Roux, Daniel Whittaker and Gabriel Tuna agreed an ICM based chop before playing on for $4,785 and the trophy. Whittaker departed soon after leaving Tuna to and Roux to battle it out for the title. All the chips hit the middle pre flop with Roux well in front with AK against the unlucky Tuna's AQ. There was to be no help for Tuna who was forced to settle for $12,680 for his runner up finish.

The final table positions and payouts were as follows:

1 Jonathan Roux $19,895
2 Gabriel Tuna $12,680
3 Daniel Whittaker $15,165
4 Nicholas van de Weyer $7,395
5 George Achillea $5,550

8 Zoltan Havacs $2,955
