Romano Pizzo heads Unibet Open

Saturday, 15 September 2012

Organisers said that they were expecting a big field for the London leg of the Unibet Open and they didn’t disappoint with 312 players buying in over the two opening flights.

130 of those starters will be back for Day 2 with Romano Pizzo leading the way on 176,600 followed by Poland’s Patryk Slusarek (153,800) and Dariusz Charski (151,200). Mia Dac-Liu heads the UK challenge in sixth on 101,400.

Plenty of top UK talent was on view over the opening two days with John Tabatabai (84,700), Jonathan Wong (78,900), our own Alex ‘Pickleman’ Rousso (50,800), the Hit Squad’s Charles Chattha (50,200) and last year’s Unibet Open Dublin winner Paul Vas Nunes (31,300) among the notables who’ll be back today.

They will be competing for a share of a prize pool that stands at an impressive £378,000. 36 players will walk away with at least £2,080 with the winner set to pocket £85,050.

The action resumes at noon today.
