Robbie Williams to launch online poker site

Monday, 6 February 2012

Celebrities in the online poker world isn’t unheard of, as EPT final tabling Teddy Sheringham and GUKPT winning Michael Greco will tell you. Robbie Williams has become the latest star to lend his name to poker, launching the Robbie Williams Poker Community.

The site will be primarily for play money games, though there is provision for real-money gaming. This has drawn fire from the tabloids and politicians alike. The Daily Mail reported “Outrage as former drug addict Robbie Williams launches online poker site", while MP Tessa Munt, told the Daily Mirror “I’m outraged… it directly targets his fans, including children.”

This despite the fact that Robbie Williams Poker “is NOT a Gambling Offer. You play in all games with virtual game money with no value”

A robbiewilliamspoker.com spokesperson replied, saying that the “main focus is not money.”

The Take That star is no stranger to the poker tables, surprising players at a Swindon card room last year with an impromptu appearance.
