Rob Angood lived up to his name (R Angood, geddit) by winning the latest PKR Live event at The Fox Poker Club over the weekend.
Angood, a regular at The Vic, outlasted a field of 243-runners to pocket a first prize of £36,638. A chop was agreed between Angood, Phil Souki, Darren Fuller and Kevin Ayow with the quartet agreeing to play on for a remaining £7,000. It looked like Angood's luck was out when his pocket aces were overturned by Ayow's AK but he didn't look back after winning a coin flip to eliminate Darren Fuller in third place. The title was sealed soon after with the chips hitting the middle with Ayow's A2 marginally in front of Angood's KQ. A queen on the turn was good enough for Angood who, after reaching the UKIPT Manchester final table, bagged his first major tournament win. The final table positions and payouts were as follows:1st Rob Angood £36,638 2nd Kevin Ayow £24,887 3rd Darren Fuller £21,000 4th Phil Sanki £22,530 5th Will Dovey £11,905 6th Guy Steel £8,080 7th Craig McCorkell £6,380 8th Mark Stuart £4,680 9th Ross Jarvis £3,400 10th Tina Abery £2,550 There was also plenty of side action on offer at PKR Live with Anthony Roberts outlasting a 107-runner field to bag £3,000 in the £100 side event. Alan Calzari took the £250 side event for £3,375.Qualify future events and socials exclusively at PKR with a bonus of up to $800. Sign up here.
