Richard Evans wins UKIPT Dublin

Richard Evans has won the latest leg of the PokerStars UK and Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT). The 46-year-old Welshman outran a 597 runner field at the Citywest in Dublin over the weekend to pocket a first prize of €75,000, a fine return on a seat won in a satellite for just €44. His feat was even more impressive considering his stack dropped to below two big blinds at one stage.
The final three of Evans, Stephen McGrath and Seamus Birt agreed a chop that guaranteed each of them €60,000 before playing on for the final €15,500. Birt was the first to go when his KQs couldn't beat Evans' A5. It didn't take long for the man from Portmeirion to complete the win, sealing victory when his top pair held up against McGrath's second pair, flush and inside straight draws.
And what will Evans be doing with the cash? He'll “do up my house and live mortgage-free.”
