Rhys Ifans Joins Charity Tournament

Monday, 4 August 2014

Hollywood actor, Rhys Ifans, recently took to the felt in the name of charity. The Welsh actor hit the tables for a poker tournament designed to raise money for children's cancer charity, Latch.

Taking place in Swansea's Grosvenor Casino and organised by Jamie Lloyd and Barry Harrison, the tournament is the second time the charity has received a donation from the poker community.

Lloyd was a childhood cancer sufferer but thanks to the work of staff at the University Hospital of Wales she was able to pull through. Now 24, she wanted to give something and through the help of Kevin Allen - a film producer who is a family friend - she was able to persuade Ifans to join the action.

Along with a slew of celebrity memorabilia and prizes, the tournament proved to be a huge success. At present the money raised is still be counted but the organisers are expecting last year's £3,387 total to be exceeded.
