Ray Bitar sentenced via video link

Tuesday, 16 April 2013

Ray Bitar, the former Chief Executive Officer for FullTilt Poker, has now finalised his legal plea agreement after yesterday appearing in front of a California court via video link and consenting to hand over around $40 million in personal assets.

Having initially entered the deal last week, Bitar was allowed to virtually enter the final plea from his home due to an ongoing heart condition that could see him require a life-saving transplant within the next year.

Upon hearing Bitar’s plea, the presiding judge sentenced him to ‘time served’ and accepted his forfeiture of $40 million.

Following the case, Bitar’s lawyer indicated to the judge that his client is due to be enrolled in a heart transplant programme from May 6.
