Prague High Roller Breaks EPT Record

Prague High Roller Breaks EPT Record

Tuesday, 16 December 2014

This year's EPT festival in Prague has been another impressive event and, last night, things became even more special thanks to a record-breaking €10,300 High Roller.

Following a bumper Super High Roller and a record-breaking Main Event, the opening day of this year's EPT Prague High Roller reached a new level of popularity inside Prague's Hilton Hotel.

Back in 2013 the tournament broke its own record and welcomed 137 entrants with 39 re-entries. However, this time around that figure was smashed after 231 grinders, plus 63 re-entries, all anted up €10,300 to compete for an EPT title.

Among the sea of pros on display throughout Day 1 was the likes of Ole Schemion, Kevin MacPhee and the current WSOP Main Event champion, Martin Jacobson. In fact, yesterday's opening flight was awash with so many high level pros that it was tough to pick out the early favourites.

However, as the action developed and players fell by the wayside, a number of contenders found their way to the top of the leaderboard at the close of play. Leading the way was Igor Yaroshevskyy with 318,300 chips. However, his place will be in jeopardy early when the action resumes as the likes of Dan Shak, Schemion and MacPhee are all among the top ten largest stacks.

In total, 137 players made it through the session and when the action restarts the aim will be to whittle the field down to a final table of eight before a winner is crowned on Wednesday.
