PokerStars' strategy to use Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar Jr to the fullest took another turn over the weekend when the site launched a series of ad campaigns via Facebook.
Between them the two footballers have 157 million Facebook fans, and in an effort to engage them PokerStars released a series of videos promoting the site.Released two weeks before they go on international release and are shown on TV around the world, the videos should give casual fans a chance to see the game in a new light. Indeed, according to PokerStars' press release, the new campaigns will also feature sophisticated targeting tools to fully utilise the reach of Ronaldo's and Neymar Jr's social media networks. Commenting on the new strategy, Michael Hazel, interim CEO at the Rational Group, said such a move was a great opportunity to engage new customers and help bring more new faces into PokerStars."This is the biggest PokerStars marketing campaign in history and we are excited to launch with exclusive distribution on Facebook. Both videos show how each of the stars love the game of poker in their own unique way. The vast numbers of fans who engage with both stars make Facebook a great platform to reach a big audience. To put this into context the combined fan base for both superstars is a huge 157 million," said Hazel.
