PokerStars is no stranger to re-writing the record books and they'll be doing it once again later this year by hosting online poker's most expensive buy-in tournament.
The $51,000 Super High Roller will be part of the forthcoming World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) series and will feature a guaranteed prize pool of at least $1m. The record-breaking event will be an 8-mx affair and is schedule to take place at 5.30pm UK time on 20 September 2015.“Over the last few years we have seen the emergence of Super High Roller events at live events across the globe,” said Team PokerStars Pro member Daniel Negreanu, who just missed out an appearance at the WSOP Main Event final table. “I think it only makes sense that the world’s largest poker site is also the host of the largest buy-in online poker tournament ever. I'm excited to test my skills against the best of the best, online.”The Super High Roller will take place a week before the $5,200 WCOOP Main Event which will feature a $10m prize pool.One man who'll be trying his luck in the biggie will be Jason Mercier who said, “I'm really excited about playing in the biggest buy-in online tournament ever. It'll be an awesome challenge to go up against such tough competition for the biggest stakes! I can't wait.”
