PokerStars APPT Queenstown Snowfest now down to 21 players

Friday, 26 August 2011

The small field at the PokerStars Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) Snowfest event from the Sky City Casino in Queenstown, New Zealand, is now even smaller with 21 of the 71 opening flight survivors returning for Day 3.

Though some big names are left, the man to watch is Marcel Schreiner, who takes more than double the stack of second place into Day 3.

German player Schreiner began Day 2 as the only non-New Zealander in the top six chip counts and built his stack throughout the day, culminating in a huge pot with Tom Grigg at the end of Day 2.

Schreiner had called a pre-flop 4-bet to see a board of Kc-4h-5d and checked behind on both flop and 6h turn before facing a big bet on a final board of K-4-5-6-7. Schreiner tanked before making an incredible call with A-Q, beating A-9 to bag up 453,900 in chips.

The biggest poker talent left is undoubtedly Jonathan Karamalikis, better known online as 'xMONSTERDONGx'. He is third overall, though on 192,800 he has some serious work to do in order to catch Schreiner.
