Poker pros diversify with latest investment

The ‘Black Friday’ indictments in April of 2011 came as a devastating blow to almost every professional online poker player across the United States but the spirit of being a determined grinder has seen some enterprising competitors look to other areas.

While the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) may have stopped players in the United States from plying their trade on the virtual felt, it didn’t mean that they couldn’t invest their bankrolls in other ventures.

According to an article from TechCrunch, one group of players has taken this option and invested their money in a new venture within the online adult entertainment business.

While pornography and poker might not have a direct link, a meeting between three high-stakes players and Montreal-based Craig Hensley soon facilitated an investment in the latest adult tube site, PaintBottle.com.

After helping the players establish Canadian bank accounts, Hensley introduced them to business partners John Phillips and Amy Ambrose and the band soon launched a new way of indexing and categorising adult videos.

The trio of investors has not yet been named with Phillips simply describing them as ‘the best high-stakes heads-up poker players in the world’.

At present the site is still in its infancy but reportedly already welcomes some 20,000 visitors.
