A new Bitcoin venture that's currently taking the Las Vegas strip by storm has been funded by a professional poker player.
Chris McAlary, a pro grinder from Vegas, recently told fastcompany.com how he decided to use his bankroll to fund a Bitcoin ATM company. Hoping to fuse the world of cryptocurrency and gambling, McAlary' new company, Coin Cloud, offers a secure way for Bitcoin users to access their cash in Sin City.According to the 29-year-old entrepreneur, the ATMs have been active on the Vegas strip for a few months and during that time they've already surpassed $1 million in transactions."There's no question that cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin have the potential to be one of the most important innovations of the 21st century. Las Vegas could be one of the places that really helps drive it all forward," said McAlary.Although McAlary's decision to quit poker and plough his bankroll into a new idea could still prove -EV, it does seem that Bitcoin is becoming much more of a force in the poker world. Indeed, in the last few weeks two Bitcoin-based poker sites, Breakout Gaming and Nitrogen Sports, have launched, causing some to speculate that this could be the next growth area of the industry.
