Fans of high stakes poker events now have a new event to look forward to thanks to a new poker TV channel called Poker Central.
Based in the US and ready to show poker action 24/7, the channel appears to be the first of its kind and to celebrate its launch it will be helping to organise a $500,000 buy-in event dubbed the "Super High Roller Bowl".Offering a rake free format and set to get underway on July 2, the tournament is expected to be one of the biggest spectacles of the summer when things go down inside the Aria, Las Vegas.Already on the list of willing participants is Phil Hellmuth, Antonio Esfandiari and Erik Seidel and, according to Mori Eskandani, president of Poker PROductions, the company helping the produce the show, "many of the best players in the world are on board to compete for millions in prizes."Running alongside the Super High Roller Bowl will be a celebrity shootout event as well as a high stakes cash game which will all be filmed will also be filmed and shown on Poker Central in August.Despite being an open event, the $500,000 buy-in will exclude a large number of players and go against the current trend among tournament organizers offering smaller buy-in events (e.g. the WSOP's Colossus and the WPT500 at the Aria). However, poker fans have always loved high stakes games and if the organisers can attract the 50 players they believes they can, then a prizepool of $25 million will certainly have viewers tuning in.
