PokerStars is offering patriotic poker fans the chance to represent their country via its World Cup of Poker, which is set to conclude with a live final held as part of the upcoming PokerStars Caribbean Adventure.

All PokerStars players are eligible to enter the qualifying stages for this ninth edition of the World Cup of Poker with tournaments starting from $2.20.

Two of these heads-up super knockout tournaments remain, one each on August 18 and 19, and can be found in the PokerStars lobby under 'Tourney' and then 'Regional'.

Players are categorised by country and all national scores are subsequently related to the highest individual cashes by players of that nationality. The live final is to consist of the country at the top of each group. Four qualifying tournaments on August 26 will determine each nation's players.

The four best players from each nation will qualify to play in the live final to be held at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in January while every team will be captained by a PokerStars Team Pro or Team Online member.

Team Peru won the 2011 World Cup of Poker after seeing off The Netherlands while Japan took home the bronze. For all of their efforts the victorious South Americans shared $90,000 in cash, which worked out to $22,500 per competitor.
