Phil Ivey, the poker world's most famous yet elusive player, has finally touched down in Las Vegas.
More than four weeks after the World Series of Poker (WSOP) got under way, Ivey has decided to leave his seat in a lucrative cash game and join the tournament festivities in Sin City.Following weeks of speculation about whether Ivey would actually turn up for the festival, the revered player told Pokernews over the weekend that he'd been attending to business elsewhere in the word."I care about bracelets. But you know, sometimes there are games elsewhere in the world and duty calls," Ivey told PokerNews.Although Ivey remained tight-lipped about where he's been for the past few weeks, many believe he's been in Macau taking part in the super high stakes cash games reserved for millionaire amateurs and poker VIPs.Helping fuel these summations was a recent video featuring Ivey and Dwan talking about Six-Plus Hold'em. Shot in Asia and clearly outlining a game played by the high stakes regulars, it's a clear sign that Ivey has made some high powered connections away from the US.However, business and cash game connections aside, Ivey has now found his way back to Las Vegas and will be taking part in a mixture of games throughout the summer. As well as stating that he'll play as many WSOP events as possible (cash games permitting), Ivey also explained that he'll be taking part in the $500,000 Super High Roller Bowl at the Aria which gets underway on July 2.Can the elusive Ivey defy the odds and steal a late bracelet this summer? If he plays enough tournaments then there are few who would bet against him.
