Peter Traply wins WSOP Event #41 $5,000 No Limit Hold ‘Em Shoot Out

Wednesday, 24 June 2009

Youngsters were once again to the fore at the final table of the $5,000 No Limit Hold ‘Em Shoot Out with the oldest player on view just 24. In the end it was 22-year-old Peter Traply who outlasted the young guns to claim the bracelet and with it a first prize of $348,728.

Traply, who became Hungary’s first bracelet winner beat, 21-year-old Andrew Lichtenberger heads up to claim the title. The chips went in with Traply holding AK and Lichtenberger AJ on a 5h-3c-Ac board. The turn and river brought a pair of Queens giving the Hungarian the victory.

A delighted Traply said “Oh my God, I’m the happiest person in the world.” adding “Winning a bracelet was one of my poker dreams and it came true.”

Phil Ivey came close to winning bracelet number three (and decimating the bankrolls of his prop bet action takers) but eventually just missed out on the final table. Both Barny Boatman and Neil Channing went deep and made the money.

The final table positions and payouts were as follows:

1 Peter Traply - $348,728
2 Andrew Lichtenberger - $215,403
3 Max Lykov - $145,063
4 Danny Wong - $105,609
5 Nasr El Nasr - $82,697
