Pedro Guerrero Heads GPS Sheffield

Friday, 4 December 2015

The tenth and final leg of the Genting Poker Series (GPS) is up and running in Sheffield with Pedro Guerrero taking the early initiative after the first live opening flight.

Organisers must have been holding their breath after just 25 players anted up the £440 ($664) buy-in as the the cards went in the air at lunchtime yesterday. But that number had expanded to a very healthy 123 by the time registration ended while the field was further bolstered by 19 online entrants from earlier in the week.

After eight levels of play in the £100,000 ($151,065) guarantee event, the field has now been whittled down to 46 players with Guerrero in the lead holding 159,900 chips. The remaining pack also features notable names such as 2013 Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT) Grand Final winner Matt Davenport with 110,700 chips as well as recent World Poker Tour (WPT) Nottingham finalist Chi Zhang embracing 108,200.

A big field is expected in South Yorkshire for Day 1C action, which starts from 1pm today, and fans can follow all of the action via the GPS Live Stream (below).
